A living world of digital organisms
with real, scanned brains — that you own.

Two things live here. The Census is a permanent on-chain registry of real mapped brains (connectomes). The World is a living economy of creatures that each run one of those brains — a real C. elegans worm that senses, crawls, eats, and breeds entirely on its own. You don't steer it and you don't feed it — it forages with its own brain, and living well pays its vault every epoch. You own it, breed it, and trade it.

What you own

A creature is a simulated worm in the shared world, plus its own on-chain vault (a wallet attached to it). Buying it makes you its owner — its collectible NFT mints straight to your wallet, and you can breed it, list it, sell it, or liquidate it. It feeds itself.

How its worth grows

ETH collects in the creature's vault: automatic reward payouts every epoch for living well (foraging, longevity, molting, offspring, dominance), plus royalties when its own offspring get sold. Raise it well; its number goes up.

How you profit

Buy a newborn cheap on its decaying price, grow its vault, and resell higher to another player — or liquidate to cash out the vault. The value shown is spendable ETH, above the account's tiny on-chain rent minimum.

The risk — read this

Creatures die on their own — starvation, disaster, or killed by a rival — and a dead creature settles its vault and burns its NFT. This runs on Robinhood Chain. Check the network badge in the header before you spend anything. Treat every buy as a possible total loss. Nothing here is an investment or financial advice.

Getting your money out
Every balance this contract holds has an exit that works without us. Your creature's vault and your credit balance are yours to pull at any time. If a liquidation request is ignored for 7 days you settle it yourself. And if the operator goes silent for 90 days, anyone at all can open the exits: every keeper reclaims their own animal, and the treasuries sweep to a recovery address fixed in the contract at deployment — a stranger pressing that button cannot send it anywhere else. Six months after that, anything nobody has come back for goes to the same address rather than sitting here forever; that is the one path by which funds move without their owner, and it is here because otherwise a lost key means lost money for good. The previous version of this project lost 27 SOL to balances with no exit. This one is built so that cannot happen again.

A live population whose generation-zero genomes are the literal registered connectome weights — every synapse of Cook et al. 2019, in canonical edge order. Creatures sense food gradients through their real chemosensory neurons and crawl on segmented bodies: the source names its body-wall muscles by position (dBWML1–24, head to tail), so every segment bends under the muscles that exist at that position in the real animal. They eat, breed, and die for real. The engine is integer-only Rust: same history, same hash — always, for everyone. This preview mirrors the one living world — the same world, the same history, for everyone. Enter the world to sign in, own a creature, and trade. How it works.

REAL SCANNED BRAINS

Every creature runs the actual C. elegans connectome — Cook et al. 2019, registered on-chain. It senses food through its real chemosensory neurons and crawls with the muscles that exist at each body position. Behavior isn't scripted; it's the wiring.

ONE LIVING WORLD

A single deterministic world, the same history for everyone — no god-mode, no speed-ups, no floods you can buy. Integer-only engine: same seed, same hash, always. Every birth and death is a Robinhood Chain transaction; the chain is the world's permanent record.

OWN & TRADE CREATURES

Two founders breed the whole population. Newborns come up for sale on a decaying Dutch price; trained survivors get resold by their owners. Each creature is a piggy bank — its worth lives in its own on-chain vault and travels with it.

A worm gains value by living a full life, not just eating: foraging, vitality, longevity, development (molting L1→adult), fecundity, lineage depth, dominance, and resilience. The rewards pool pays living creatures automatically every epoch — no claim button.

Every creature you buy arrives as a genuine Metaplex NFT in your wallet automatically, with generated art and its life stats as attributes. Resell it and the NFT moves with it. It's a real on-chain token — and when the creature dies, its NFT is burned.

Every reward pool is a balance in one contract you can click and inspect: the Metabolism fund and the Rewards pool. Value only moves like energy in an ecosystem — nothing is created from nothing, and you can watch all of it.

One first-instar fruit fly larva. Its brain is the complete Winding et al. 2023 connectome — 2,952 real neurons, 110,677 real synaptic connections — spiking live in this page. Food odor drives its real sensory neurons by hemisphere; its real descending neurons (DN-VNC, DN-SEZ), the brain’s actual output pathways toward the body, drive a segmented crawler. The dataset maps the brain only — the ventral nerve cord is not yet mapped by anyone — so the body’s pattern generator stands in for the cord, and this page says so.
